The citadel’s casemates form one of the largest winter habitats for bats in Europe. They are therefore only accessible to visitors for three months a year. The vaulted corridors with their thick walls were built for defensive purposes. During your visit to the casemates of the K\u00f6nig Bastion, you will not only explore one of the oldest areas of the citadel, most of which has been preserved in its original state, but also a place of cinematic interest, including “Der Hexer” by Edgar Wallace filmed here in 1964.<\/p>\n

With the “Monumental Bag”, a set of questions, actions and tools, the participants will set off, place themselves in relation to history and can add to it, change it, renew it or determine a new position from their point of view.<\/p>\n

We will discuss what and how it is commemorated in public space, and develop our own memorial proposals by researching, drawing, photographing and designing.<\/p>\n

Participants will receive input and feedback from a perspective that combines art, politics and history and will be guided in shaping their own working process and incorporating their different interests and perspectives. They will be introduced to democratic processes of remembrance culture that are often not accessible to them and be encouraged to help shape their own environment.<\/p>\n
