His portraits of well-known and lesser-known personalities of the queer community oscillate between objective observation and the pleasure of staging. His new project &#8220;we don&#8217;t care&#8221;, which will be shown in the lounge of ZAK, gathers sensitively nuanced portraits beyond common clich\u00e9s:<\/p>\n<p><em>&#8220;The protagonists in Hamann&#8217;s wide-ranging pictorial world are masculine, feminine, queer and come from the most diverse parts of the world. They are offensive or shy, disguised or naked or all at once. you can feel the closeness between photographer and photographed person everywhere, Hamann is part of the scene, surrounding him enough to enjoy trust and at the same time distanced enough to guide the camera.&#8221; <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Arne Linde, Leipzig<\/p>\n<p>Matthias Hamann (*1974 in Leisnig) studied photography with Timm Rautert and Christopher Muller at the Hochschule f\u00fcr Grafik und Buchkunst Leipzig. In 2012 he stayed in New York with a scholarship from the Free State of Saxony.
