Julia Schramm (*1985 in Berlin) develops her painting at the interface between abstraction and figuration by experimenting with color, image carriers, and various processing instruments. Paint is poured onto canvases lying on the floor, layers are placed on top of each other, and with brushes, rags, or fingers the painter creates structures. In the course of a process lasting several weeks, drying, breaking and further processing steps in a final stage result in multi-layered and lively surface structures. In Julia Schramm’s works, figures become starting points for complex color compositions whose characteristic is a far-reaching degree of abstraction. The theme of the current group of works are birds that advance to actors in pictorial spaces of great color intensity.

Supported by funds from the district promotion funds of the Senate Administration for Culture and Europe.

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_single_image image=”4202″ img_size=”large”][vc_column_text]

Fig.: Cooling forest (detail), 100×200 cm, 2018, oil and acrylic on canvas

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_empty_space height=”16px”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_separator color=”black” border_width=”3″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”633″ img_size=”285×285″ alignment=”center”][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_column_text]

Location

Center for Contemporary Art // Old Barracks

[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/3″][vc_single_image image=”6614″ img_size=”285×285″ alignment=”center”][/vc_column][/vc_row]

[vc_row][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_column_text] Julia Schramm / peeling, pouring 11.8.2018 – 30.9.2018 Center for Contemporary Art – Projectroom With the exhibition peel, cast, an artist of the younger generation presents works from her current work process in the ZAK project space.
