Exploring Spandau

Sunday 12.10.2025 2.00 p.m. - 4.00 p.m.

After the suicide of Rudolf Hess, the war criminals’ prison was demolished and all traces were erased to prevent the site from becoming a place of pilgrimage for right-wing extremists. Today, there is nothing at the location that recalls the prison—not even the memory of those who were imprisoned and executed there by the National Socialists between 1933 and 1945.
Let’s discuss together: How should we deal with this ambivalent history of the site? And how might we commemorate it on location?

Please note: The event will not take place at the Spandau Citadel but at the Stadtteilladen Wilhelmstadt, Adamstraße 39, 13595 Berlin. The event will be held in German.
