PUBLIC GUIDED TOUR / Bismarck-Streit

Sunday 13.8.2023 3.00 p.m. - 4.00 p.m.

Johanna Riedel, research assistant at Stadtgeschichtliches Museum and one of the curators of the exhibition Bismarck-Streit, will take you on a tour of the exhibition. Learn interesting facts about Bismarck as a person, but above all about him as a national cult figure, which he already was during his lifetime and whose veneration increased enormously after his death, especially through a flood of memorials. Today, on the one hand, he is considered by many to be one of Germany’s most important historical figures; on the other hand, there are lively debates about his role in German colonialism. Contemporary artists have dealt with Bismarck in a playful and critical way. Learn about their work during the guided tour and express your own opinion in a creative way at one of the many interactive stations.
