Queen’s Bastion
The idea of housing a display depot with problematic objects of commemorative culture took shape in 2021: In that year, it was finally decided that the Citadel would take over two larger-than-life bronze horses from 1939. More unwanted Berlin monuments and sculpture followed. Here, they are exhibited and their stories are told instead of letting them disappear.
In terms of content, the display depot is tied with “Revealed. Berlin and its monuments”. However, the design stays adaptable: Each year, different curators are given the chance to present the objects in a new – historical, artistic or experimental – perspective. Visitors are invited to express their thoughts and wishes at any time!
