Workshop | Glass Engraving: What Makes the Nib So Light?

Gerd Steinmöller Artists’ House

Friday 10.4.2026 1.00 p.m. - 4.00 p.m.

The European Days of Arts and Crafts are a long weekend of watching and participating, taking place simultaneously every year in early April in what has now grown to 24 European countries. In Germany, many regions across 10 federal states showcase a wide variety of creative crafts—and this year marks the twelfth edition!

Spandau is also participating in this creative event at the Citadel. Under the motto “What makes the feather so light as a feather?”, immerse yourself in a special engraving experience at the free workshop hosted by Inge Gerner’s Glass Engraving Studio: Using traditional engraving tools, you’ll learn the basics of the so-called sliding technique. That’s the secret behind the beautiful feather designs created by master glass engraver Inge Gerner. But anyone who just wants to watch is also welcome.
