The marble statues of Generals Scharnhorst, Bülow, and von Dennewitz (by Christian Daniel Rauch, 1822) were removed in 2020 for restoration purposes. Since then, these art-historical treasures have been on display at the Museum at Spandau Citadel. During the tour, you can discover the turbulent political history behind the monuments, featuring figures such as Walther Ulbricht, Helmut Kohl, and the heirs of Käthe Kollwitz. There is also discussion about erecting replicas of the monuments at their original locations.
